How it all began…

The first Naboom Windpomp Fees took place during the weekend of 13 to 15 June 2008. The venue: The Buffelshoek terrain - an area of 20ha.

The decision to name this festival the “ Naboomspruit Windpompfees”, is based upon the symbolism it holds. The Windmill (Windpomp) symbolizes our school that produces water for itself and then will overflow to the rest of our community which includes the people, businesses and local projects.

Funds obtained from the 2008 Naboom Windpompfees festival, contributed towards:

1. “Naboomspruit Tuiste vir Bejaardes” old age home (Naboomspruit)

2. “Magrietjies” the organization which assists terminal cancer patients

3. The Susan Strijdom School for mentally handicapped children in Nylstroom.

4. The Abraham Kriel orphanage in Nylstroom

5. Sonstraal Skool for Special Education.

Artists who performed at the 2008 Naboom Windpompfees were: Pieter Koen, Bobby van Jaarsveld, Zak van Niekerk, Lianie May, Wicus van der Merwe, Adam Tas, Elizma Theron and Piet Smit.
